It’s not every day that I get to work with a past bridesmaid, but I’m so happy that Taylor is now one of my own brides!!! I first met Taylor at one of my summer weddings this year. She was already familiar working with me, but her fiancé was a little nervous about the session. I totally get it!!!! I did a photography session this summer and I was even nervous and I photograph people as a living.
I am definitely not one to wake up early for a morning session, but I am so glad I did!!! Many of you know I’m a night owl and up til 1 or 2 am every night… reason why I’m always responding at midnight to emails. For John + Allison’s engagement session we had to meet early in the morning due to their traveling schedule and other wedding planning tasks. Surprisingly many of my couples live out of state so we have limited times when we can fit in their engagements sessions.
Meeting my couples for the first time is always an exciting moment for me!!! Photographers who say they are never nervous are secretly hiding something because I’m not afraid to say that I can be at times. One of my most important stages to photographing a wedding day is the initial meeting of my brides and grooms… aka. the engagement session.
This month and last month have been jam-packed with engagement sessions!!! On top of all the weddings I have had a pretty crazy Fall. For Matt + Kacie’s engagement session we started at their family’s cottage minutes away from Hamlin Beach State Park. There we took some pictures with their lovable pups, Brooklyn + Munson, before heading to the state park.
A little over two years ago I first met Trevor + Amie for a couples session in the Finger Lakes region. It was so easy to tell back then that they had a bright future ahead of them and now they are engaged and getting married in July!!!!
For Adam + Katie’s engagement session we met in the Finger Lakes region at one of my favorite spots… Kershaw Park!!! It’s not too far from Rochester and midpoint for a few of my Central NY weddings. We first met at the Twisted Rail, where the birthday boy was having a quick drink before we started their engagement session.
One thing I love about all my friends getting engaged is doing their engagement sessions for them. It means a little more when I know the couple behind the camera because I know their relationship and back story. MacKenzie and I have been friends for a few years now so I was really excited when she asked me to photograph their engagement session.
